THE ARMED MAN Karl Jenkins

a Mass for Peace

The 'Mass for Peace' is a powerful and emotional work

1. The Armed Man
2. The Call To Prayers (Adhaan)
3. Kyrie
4. Save Me From Bloody Men
5. Sanctus
6. Hymn Before Action
7. Charge!
8. Angry Flames
9. Torches
10. Agnus Del
11. Now The Guns Have Stopped
12. Benedictus
13. Better Is Peace

This mass is based on the 15th-century French song L'Homme Armé (The Armed Man). The complete work sets sacred and secular texts including Tennyson, Kipling, The Koran and the Hindu Mahàbharàta within the framework of the Christian mass.

"When I started composing The Armed Man, the tragedy of Kosovo unfolded.
I was thus reminded daily of the horror of such conflict and so I dedicate this work to the victims of Kosovo."—Karl Jenkins
